What is Nosotros and its Mission?

NOSOTROS is a Spanish word for "Us." Our organization was founded in 1970 by Ricardo Montalbán in order to attain the following objectives:

a) To improve the images of Latinos/Hispanics as they are portrayed on the screen,

b) To seek employment opportunities in the entertainment industry in front of and behind the camera, c) To train our members to become better actors / actresses by offering classes, workshops and networking opportunities, and ultimately,

d) To seek quality talent in our community.


Our goals are simple. Our intents are genuine. We are not a fraternity, nor are we a private club. We urge ALL Latino professionals in the motion picture industry, as well as those with a desire to become a part of it, to join us and actively participate in our dedicated, worthy, and noble pursuits. We know that together we can and will attain our highest ideals.

 

 

Do I have to speak Spanish and/or be a Latino/Hispanic to join Nosotros?
It is not a requirement to speak Spanish or to be a Latino/Hispanic to join Nosotros. If you are supportive of our mission, we WELCOME you with open arms.
When and where are the monthly meetings?
Generally, Membership Meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm at the Ricardo Montalbán Theatre (1615 N Vine Ave LA CA 90028) between Hollywood Blvd.and Sunset Blvd.
How can I benefit from joining Nosotros?
Nosotros is a membership-driven organization. Similar to any organization, you get what you put into it. Even though we are here to provide resources and opportunities for our members, the organization operates through their ideas and/or leadership.
IIs there a membership fee to join Nosotros?
Membership to Nosotros is $80 per year.

Do you need a headshot/resume or experience to join Nosotros?
You do not need a headshot/resume to join. Once you do join you can speak to your fellow members and get advice on pictures, how much to spend, who to go to, who to avoid, etc.
You do not need an ounce of experience to join Nosotros. Many of our members are new to the Entertainment Industry: some are sales persons, teachers, real estate agents and/or lawyers who are in search of a new profession, or are simply here to network. Our organization is beneficial to the beginner and the expert. We provide opportunities for members to obtain information regarding jobs, classes, photos, and many other items.
What is the On-Line Portfolio?
The On-Line Portfolio was created for the benefit of our members. Our goal is to make Nosotros.org the destination of choice for the Entertainment Endustry when seeking talented professionals. It offers a diverse pool of talent within our membership. The on-line skills bank will enable industry execs to search between four specific member portfolios: Talent, Production, Representation, and Training.
As part of our continued support and dedication, we are offering members the opportunity to take advantage of this new on-line service. This service will allow members to post their professional resume, bio, and a maximum of three photos. Subscribing to this service will allow them to manage their portfolio 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition, they can instantly E-mail and print their information. This user-friendly design makes it easy to manage your portfolio.
How do I get my resume and/or headshot on-line?
You must be a current Nosotros Member to enjoy this feature. Once you are a member you will be given a user name and password in order to enjoy your on-line membership benefits. If you are already a member and have not received your user name and password please email a request to Membership (see- contact us page).
